Yummy, Healthy, Raw Brownies

Tracy, one of the members of Club FYM, posted a recipe for these brownies. Now at first I was very skeptical, thinking there would be no way these could taste good! Boy, was I wrong! They taste just like brownies! I even used dark chocolate unsweetened cocoa and YUM! She also said that you could frost them using almond butter, cacao or cocoa powder with agave and vanilla. I haven’t tried that yet, but I sure plan to!

brownies

Ingredients:

1 c. walnuts
1 c. dates
1/4 c. cacao powder or raw carob powder

Place in food processor, and blend until well blended, should still be dry and chunky. (blend about 30 seconds)

Press into a small pan. Frost with frosting if you choose.

Refrigerate until you can insert a knife and it isn’t too sticky.

Cut into pieces. If you would like to you can freeze these or keep them in the refrigerator.

Give them a try and let me know what you think!!

  1. Looks interesting. I’ll definitely have to give them a try.

  2. That looks easy enough to make (as well as rather tasty)! Except I’m not a fan of walnuts. Do you think substituting all-natural peanut butter would work?

In “The Biggest Loser Cookbook” there’s a recipe similar to this, but for peanut butter cookies- it just calls for rolled oats, peanut butter, and dates. And they are delicious:

  3. Hmmm I don’t know! But I would say give it a try and let me know how it works! Sure does sound yummy!! Chocolate and peanut butter YUMM!!

That recipes from Biggest Loser Desserts sounds pretty tasty, might have to give it a try!

  4. What type of dates are required for this recipe — fresh or dry. I am new to raw so a bit naive…

  5. I used dried ones and it turned out ok. Hmm..never thought of the fresh ones! LOL

  6. ooooh Im trying this—THANKS!
