Playing With Kettlebells
So for one of my workouts, I tried to and Around the World workout with kettlebells. I am a newbie at KB’s so I am looking for all the kettlebell pros out there to comment and tell me how to correct and improve my form with the exercises.

Angie,
Obviously, you’ve been putting some strong work in. I wish my clients looked this good! You are doing everything safely and that is really our goal for our clients. If you are looking for profiency then there are somethings for you to work on.
Snatches: Your ascent is pretty solid. You should get the kb behind your ear though at the top. Really focus on driving hips and it will help. On the descent, you are correct in ‘taming the arc.’ Really try to go overspeed from the top. Kettlebell should come over the top of your hand and then help gravity.Throw the bell through your stomach and at the last second get out of the way. Back is nice and straight but get your butt back more like you are punching with it. Fast hips and ovespeed will help there. Squeeze the glutes at the top hard.
Cleans: Very solid. I may be missing something but these look good.
Racked Squat: you rack the bell well. Focus on fast hips though. What I mean is you want to force your hips through at the top and really squeeze your glutes. Make sure your core is really tight. Consider creating a hard fist on your off hand to help that. Also, use your hammies and glutes to “pull” yourself down into the whole. Slow down and then explode up, driving from your heels.
Thrusters: IMHO, the thruster hasn’t a real codification. That being said, I feel like you should create some more depth. Again pull yourself down. Also, stay off your toes. Again, my opinion but I feel like power should come up and originate thtough the heel.
Swing: Looks pretty solid. To be quite picky, pull kneecaps up “into” quads. Drive hips a little faster. Shorten core at top and keep lats engaged with shoulder in the socket as deep as possible.
Finally, your shoes aren’t the right ones for the work:) Try something flat soled, like Chuck’s or Nike One. I wear Vibram Five Fingers.
I hope that this helps and if there is anything else I can do please let me know!
