Have You Tried The New ‘5 Hour Energy’ Shot?

Have you heard of the new ‘5 Hour Energy’ shot? It’s supposed to provide long lasting energy with no sugar crash or jitters because it doesn’t contain sugar, caffeine and herbal stimulants. Instead it contains B-vitamins, amino acids and enzymes. You can drink half the bottle (the whole bottle is 4 oz.) for moderate energy or the entire bottle for longer lasting energy.

I purchased 2 bottles earlier this week. I decided to try half the first bottle…(I am always a little anxious about taking stuff like this) and it had a strong taste, but wasn’t unbearable considering it was only 2 oz. I didn’t feel any of the side effects, such as the niacin flush and didn’t notice that much difference in my energy level. I finished the bottle later that afternoon. The second day I drank the entire bottle and while noticing my energy level was up a bit, it didn’t seem like it was anything ‘extreme’. Maybe I needed more? Maybe I was just too busy in my day (which happens a lot) that I didn’t notice much difference.  Is it something I would try again? Probably….on days when I do my heavy lifting, I do need more energy, so I would definitely use it again.

Here is the ingredient list:

Other than the sucralose and the phenylalanine, (things I try to avoid if possible) I would still recommend it if you need a little ‘pick me up’! But long term, daily? No, not so much!

  1. I wonder how well this would work for people who drink quite a bit of caffeine each day. Vitamins always seem to me to be more of a healthy long term thing and not so much an energy thing. I think I have seen this in the gas station near my apartment.

Thanks for being the guinea pig…ooops I should never called a woman a “pig” ever (especially on a fitness site)! I mean…thanks for being the experimental lab rat…LOL!

  2. actually one of the ingrediants is caffeine but it has less than an energy drink normally does

  3. Well I have a better choice for a pick me up…has anyone tried B-12 under the tongue…TriVita.com. I started taking them a month ago and they give you unlimited energy but are actually good for you. Most people are not getting enough B-12.Anyway they are like having a B-12 shot everyday.Check out the TriVita.com website. There is no caffeine in these little under the tongue pills.Love ummmm.
