Fat Burning Cardio All They Way…

Cardio doesn’t have to be long and boring. Take it from me, I am a non-cardio person. I don’t like to do cardio and if I can find a way to make it short, sweet and effective, believe me, I will!

There was a while back that I just completely cut out doing cardio, because I thought I had to be doing it for 30 minutes! Yuck! This was even interval training, still couldn’t stand the thought of being stuck on a treadmill for 30 minutes. I have too many things to do to be on a machine for that long.

Just in the past month, I have really added back my interval workouts. I have been doing anywhere from 5-6 days of intervals, BUT none of the interval workouts last any longer than 15 minutes. Seriously, most of them have been about 10 minutes long. BUT with the right intensity, 10 minute intervals can be just as effective as 20 or 30 minutes.

Let’s take this morning for example:

I started out with a warm up at 3.5 for 2 minutes. Followed by 1 minute of 5.5. (Seriously, 5.5 used to be difficult for me, but thanks to this, its just plain EASY!) Then recovery of 1 min at 3.5. But to increase the intensity, since I was only planning 15 minutes, every time I did another high intensity interval, I increased the speed. I was up to 6.5 by the end and finished strong with 1.5 minutes to make sure that I was definitely ‘done’, and I was. Did a 2 minute cool down and in 15 minutes, had a very effective fat burning cardio workout completed!

How do you feel about cardio and what have you done that will keep you motivated to keep doing them?

  1. I do 21 mins, but that’s with warm up/down, 1 min high and 2 mins low! I could save 5 mins if I only had 1 min recovery like you, so I might try that soon. Yo uhave to keep improving on yourself, don’t you?

Love your blog btw. I read all the time but this is my first comment.

    Thanks for all the tips
